Orange Class 2018 - 2019

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a magical Christmas and that the children are rested and ready for another exciting term in Orange Class.

This term our topic is ‘Super Stapeley, Super me!’ (please see our topic web for more information.)

Reading  - We will read with your child as much as we can during the week. It is vital that you continue to read at home too - 10 minutes a day will make all the difference. You were amazing last half term so keep up the great work.  Thank you to all our amazing parent helpers, we are so grateful for all your support. If you have any spare time at all, even if it is 15 minutes, please let a member of Orange Team know. We are always grateful for any extra support. Please note that reading books will now be changed on a Monday.

Spellings – will continue like last half term. Please remember spelling books on a Friday. Lots of you are now using the spelling shed to help the children practice. If you haven’t used it yet, it really is a great resource… go to ‘more lists’ to see your child’s spellings for the week. (usernames and passwords are in their reading diary).

Phonics – As we get closer to the phonics screening test you will notice that some of the children’s spellings and some homework is phonics based. More homework will be centered around phonics as we get closer to the screening test and we will hold a phonics screening test meeting in the middle of the Spring Term.

Homework – weekly homework will be put into books the first day back. Please make sure children bring homework books to school on Monday 7th January.

PE – PE will be on a Tuesday.

There will be no weekly outdoor learning, however, please make sure children have wellies and forest schools bags in anyway as some of our lessons will be outside, just not on the same day every week. Children will be able to come in their school uniform everyday. I will send texts/emails if this is different.

The children are also preparing for Betty Bear at the Seaside this half term, more details to come. As well as a trip to Reaseheath!

I love this term in Year 1. The children are settled into their year 1 setting and ready to make more exciting steps in their development.

Finally, this is our mantra for this term … ‘Inside us all is a super hero. The cape and the mask are optional, but a kind heart and the courage to pursue your dreams and work hard for them is essential.’ #superstapeleysuperme
