Red Class Newsletter

Dear All,

  1. have had yet another busy week, PE we concentrated on our SAQ skills. The children can all move through the ladders in a variety of ways. On Tuesday it was very exciting, we released our butterflies into our forest area. Some even landed on children’s legs and some children got to hold them on their fingers before they took off! (See school Facebook page for photos)

We have been busy using ladybirds to practise adding and subtracting, doubling and halving, using counters. We even tried to make our own sums too. The children have been searching for different types of ladybirds and mini-beasts, finding out facts and writing sentences and painted our own stone ladybirds.

Next two weeks we will be finishing off our topic about mini-beasts, reading a variety of books – ‘Diary of a worm’, ‘Mad about minibeasts’ and more… The reading, writing and maths activities will be continuing and other nice activities too!

Over the next two weeks and throughout the summer holidays it would be really useful if you could keep up with the reading, spotting numbers in the environment and maybe writing their very own summer holiday diary – occasionally!

You will receive your child’s report this evening. We have an open evening that you can ‘drop in’ if you need to chat anything over BUT this is not compulsory at all. As I’m hoping the report covers everything you need to know.

Tuesday 18th July 4-6pm

Next week – PE will be on Monday, Forest school will be on Tuesday and on Wednesday 10-12pm they get to meet their new teacher Mrs Swallow. Very exciting for them all, they will get a feel for the classroom and ideas for next year.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Newman and Red Team
